Safe for you, your home, and the planet.
The ELVA Approved⢠Seal is not just a logo â itâs our promise to you and a living standard for all our products so you can shop with confidence. The person in this logo is our Nana Elva when she was 25, and reminds us of a time period when life was simpler, all food was organic, and before the rise of greenwashing.
Every product that is ELVA Approved⢠upholds the values of EâEffective, LâLow-Impact, VâVirtuously Clean, AâAll-Natural.

It's a confusing time for consumers with so many certifications floating around, and greenwashing loopholes in regulations. We wanted to address that by making it easy for our customers to have some peace of mind when shopping. "ELVA Approved" means that we have already done the heavy lifting and carefully created or curated this product for you according to our uncompromising standard, and with full transparency.
We have a member of our family in the icon as a sign that we proudly stand behind this product standard and promise.
Developed over the 6 years since we started our company in 2019, this program is a more formalized reflection of what we genuinely believe in, what our company stands for, and why we started in the first place.

đ What E-L-V-A Stands For
Â
E â Effective, Elevated â natural products that perform beautifully without compromise.Â
â Natural products that work, without compromise. Because eliminating toxins should never mean sacrificing efficacity. Products that perform beautifully and deliver on their promise. We believe the products you use everyday should serve more than just a function â they should elevate your sense of well-being.
The products we use everyday are such an integral part of our environment and have a material impact on our happiness. Everything from skincare, to dish soap. We feel that products that we interact with daily should 1) work great 2) feel good and 3) BE good - for you, for the earth.
Â
L â Low-Impact, Low-Waste â designed to minimize footprint at every stage.
â Products designed to help you walk more gently on the earth, by reducing waste in the products you use everyday. At Elvaâs youâll find sustainable products made from, or in packaging that minimizes environmental footprint and plastic waste. We avoid the use of single-use plastic, wherever possible, and through the use of refillable glass, reusable pumps, biodegradable wheat straw, compostable items and home refills. From our production to the shipping materials we choose to use, our companyâs focus has been on âhow do we take the waste out of this?â, at every step of the way.
Â
V â Low-Impact, Low-Waste â free from toxins, chemicals of concern, and harmful shortcuts.
â Our familyâs radical approach to what must be excluded from consumer products is the very WHY we started our company: âWhen in doubt, leave it outâ. This philosophy drives every formulation. #TheToxicChemicalRebellion
We will not formulate products that contain chemicals in question for toxicity to human health. That means, our hyper-vigilante product formulas do NOT contain: toxins, parabens, PFAS, phthalates, petrochemicals, sulfates or SLS, artificial fragrances, artificial colour, bleach, toluene, ethoxylated ingredients, microplastics such as Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA), polysorbates, phenoxyethanol, isothiazolinones, or other potentially harmful ingredients. Every ingredient must be traceable and meet our âneverâ list. We created our "never list" by cross-referencing EU Standards (much stricter than Canada and the USA), Whole Foods supplier criteria, David Suzuki, EWG, and many more. There is also our own extensive research compiled over many years since co-Founder Kirsten worked for Greenpeace.
Palm-Free: We also do not use palm in our products for environmental concerns and human rights issues. Our surfactants (foaming/soap agents) and glycerin are palm-free.
We do not use animal byproducts, aside from organic honey (facial scrub), beeswax (in products from other suppliers we carry such as lip balm and deodorant), and organic wool (dryer balls). This may change in the future if we cannot continue to ethically source our honey from Quebec, and wool from New Zealand.
All of the products we make are only tested on humans, and never, ever on animals.Â
Â
A â All-Natural, Always Transparent â fully disclosed, plant-based, and safe for people and the planet.
Plant-based, biodegradable, cruelty-free, and fully disclosed. If itâs in there, youâll see it on the label. âAll-Naturalâ means our products must use naturally derived, minimally processed, and non-toxic ingredientsânot just label-friendly buzzwords.
âAll-naturalâ means what it should: safe for you, your home, and the planet.Â
